Dave is in the process of growing a pineapple plant. It started with the top of a pineapple plant we had bought. He then put the top into a glass that sat on our bar for a few months so that the roots could grow. 
We then went to a local plant nursery and Dave found out what type of soil and pot is best to use to grow a pineapple. So one bag of cactus mix and one shallow pot later we came home and planted the top of the pineapple.
Now we are just waiting for it to grow :)
