Happy Valentine's Day!

A short history of how February 14 "possibly" became known as Valentine's day....

A Roman Catholic priest , named St. Valentine, is said to have been martyred on Feb. 14, 269, for not giving up his faith. Legend has it that he left a note to his jailer's daughter signed "from your Valentine," this first such written missive.
Pope Gelasius set aside Feb. 14 to honor Valentine more than 200 years after his death. The more modern Valentine messages and cards originated in the mid-1800s.
A second Valentine was bishop of Interamna (Terni) in Italy and was also martyred in Rome. Tradition also records other Saint Valentines, including one martyred in Africa. The name was popular and is taken from the Latin valens, meaning worthy.
A few memories from my childhood about Valentine's Day.
*I always remember that my parents would always have candy or something waiting for us on the kitchen counter when we woke up
*The valentine day parties at school
*My valentine day box that my mom helped me make one year in Elementary school - I think it is the one she still uses for her kindergarten v-day parties
My dad still sends all of his "girls" chocolate every year on Valentine's. As I have done for several years now - I had a piece of chocolate for breakfast! :) Thanks, dad!

This morning I woke up to this wonderful surprise from my FABULOUS husband! I love that he got me purple roses and cala lillies!

Maggie did not know what to think of the bear...

I hope that everyone has a FANTASTIC Valentine's Day!
